Do you need an app to text wedding guests?

No. Guests never need an app. They receive a normal SMS on any phone, including flip phones and phones with no data. You do not need one either if you pick a browser-based tool: txt.wedding runs entirely in a web browser on a laptop or phone, and you can also send by texting our number from your own phone. Some competing services require an iOS or Android download, which adds friction for you and nothing for guests.
What guests need
- A phone that can receive text messages. That is the whole list.
- No download, no account, no login, no data connection.
- They reply by texting back, exactly as they would to a friend.
What you need
- A browser, on any device.
- Your guest list, or a QR code that lets guests add themselves.
- A verified phone number so you can also send updates by texting us directly.
Common questions
Do guests need WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp is optional and off by default. If you turn it on for an international guest list, anyone not reachable on WhatsApp automatically receives an SMS instead.
Can I manage everything from my phone?
Yes. The dashboard is mobile-friendly, and once your number is verified you can send an update by texting us.
